Assessment report 2010

World Class Commissioning

We have received our World Class Commissioning Assurance Report from the Yorkshire and Humber Strategic Health Authority and are delighted to have been recognised as an organisation which is “strong and well positioned for success”.

The overall the outcome of the report is very positive. We have been assessed as "green" for governance, strategy and finance, which confirms that we perform very well in these three critical areas, all of which are even more important given the challenges we now face. We have also made good progress on the commissioning competencies, with many areas of significant improvement.

We are the only primary care trust in the region to have been awarded a level four score (the highest attainable) in any of the eleven competencies. This was received for being an ‘Employer of Choice’. Overall for all 11 competencies our scores have met or improved compared to those previously assessed.

The panel stated that it was impressed with our impact on health outcomes in Rotherham and noted our strengths as:

  • A track record of delivery over the last 18 months;
  • A coherent strategy – balancing a strategic focus with delivery and a clear alignment of the Trust Board and partners to the strategy
  • A common set of values that are clearly owned to improve the health and well-being of the population of Rotherham
  • A focus on building effective and productive relationships with clinicians, the local authority and providers; and
  • Robust processes which underpin the delivery of the strategy.

The panel said they were “struck by the overall performance of the team as a coherent body absolutely focused on a clear vision, underscored by common values”.
