NHS Rotherham is part of a local network of PCTs in Bassetlaw, North Derbyshire and South Yorkshire; The North Trent Cancer Network (NTCN), which enables the individual PCTs to work together in addressing the service developments required to address national policies and local health needs. 

The network develops the service delivery plans for services reaching   from prevention strategies through to palliative care. Additionally, the network also enables the development of common policies which reflect best practice whilst making the best use of the funding available.

The Department of Health (DH or DoH) has produced Cancer Commissioning Guidance  ( Dec 2009) and  the progress of PCTs in addressing the needs of cancer patients locally is measured by criteria identified in the Cancer Reform Strategy (2009).
