The Team is led by Doug Hershaw, Head of Procurement and supported by Cath Stamp, Procurement Manager.

Our role is to work with the commissioners of healthcare and take them through a due process that demonstrates fairness and transparency, with the ultimate goal of delivering the best combination of quality to patients and value to taxpayers. Although the NHS is experiencing unprecedented changes to the commissioning process NHS Rotherham is committed to delivering on its five-year Strategic Plan Better Health, Better Lives (2008-2012).

Procurement will work with senior commissioning colleagues to ensure that a due process is followed in deciding whether and how to procure health services through formal tendering and market –testing exercises. In doing this Procurement will adhere to the principles within the Department of Health documents Procurement Guide [1] and the Principles and rules for Cooperation and Competition [2].
