Introduction
We are committed to ensuring equality, diversity, inclusion and human rights are central to the way we commission and deliver healthcare services and how we support our staff.
Our aim is to eliminate health inequalities and promote equal access to appropriate and quality services.
Our 'Single Equality Scheme' (see 'Resources') has been written by listening to people from the diverse communities we work with to make sure everyone is involved with developing quality health services.
Our vision
- We will work with other organisations to make sure that the health and wellbeing needs of everyone in Rotherham is identified, understood and addressed.
- We want every member of NHS staff to recognise that preventing inequality is central to their job.
Rights to healthcare
The NHS Constitution explains the principles, values, rights and responsibilities that underpin the NHS. It is designed to make sure that the NHS continues to met the needs of patients, the public and staff.
Equality impact assessments
An equality impact assessment (EIA) is the way we check how new and existing policies and practices affect different groups of people.
Assessing for equality in this way is a legislative requirement.
