Wentworth and Dearne MP John Healey will be opening a new £1.2 million extension and refurbishment to the Market Surgery at Wath on Friday, 25 November.
The practice, which has 9,400 registered patients, has undergone a major transformation over the last 12 months to almost double the size of the building. A number of new consulting rooms have been added, which will provide dedicated rooms for the GP registrars and extra nurse-led and GP clinics. In addition a patient education room, which has already been used for improving diabetic knowledge for patients, has been added. An additional part-time salaried GP, Dr Donna Bridgwood has been employed to provide an extra five sessions a week.
As well as the extension the rest of the building has been refurbished throughout to a very high standard, providing patients with improved reception and waiting facilities, as well as improving the existing consulting and treatment rooms.
An opening ceremony will take place at the Market Surgery, Warehouse Lane, Wath-Upon-Dearne, on Friday 25 November to mark the occasion. The extension will be officially opened by the Rt Hon John Healey, MP for Wentworth and Dearne.
Dr David Polkinghorn, “I would like to take this opportunity to thank patients and staff of the Market Surgery for their patience over the past months whilst the building work has been taking place. I am sure they will very quickly experience the benefits of the improved and extended facilities.”
