Cancer Action Rotherham

(CAR)

We are a user involvement group made up of cancer patients, carers and clinicians who share one very simple goal – to do whatever we can to ensure that the people of Rotherham have the best cancer support services possible.

Type

We are a group of volunteers who meet as a user involvement group not a support group.  Volunteers are our most valuable resource.  They attend service planning meetings, deal with all our administration and ensure that we are represented across the region at key events.

Overview

Our role is to support the views of cancer patients, their carers and their families.  To ensure that people know that we are here to provide support, to raise awareness and to influence change.  Membership is voluntary and is open to any cancer patient or carer, and to members from the various cancer support groups in Rotherham, who wish to have a voice in the development of services in Rotherham.

We are represented on a number of local and regional cancer service planning committees. We therefore work very closely with clinicians and professionals to ensure that we influence change, support decision making and remain involved with a range of cancer related research.

Who is the service for?

Cancer Patients, their carers and their families.  If you have been touched by cancer in some way and you feel that you would like to volunteer some of your time to make a difference to the way cancer services are provided in Rotherham then we would love to hear from you.
