The Heart Group was set up in 2008 by the Cardiac Specialist Nurses Team in Rotherham and was, for the first 12 months, funded by the NHS. We are now self-managed and self-funded, although we still have very strong ties with the Cardiac Team, who still attend most of the meetings.
Meetings are held monthly, usually on the third Monday between 2pm and 4pm. We meet at The Unity Centre in Rotherham.
A members committee of ten people meet once every two months to discuss how best to organise the group and what activities to run within the group.
To the best of our ability we try to keep our meetings informal in order to create a friendly and social atmoshphere.
On occasions we have guests come along to either demonstrate their skills, share their experiences or simply to entertain us.
During the meetings we may play bingo, have a quiz or take part in Play Your Cards Right, we also hold a raffle and profits from these activities go into the group funds.
